4. Jerzees – NuBlend Crewneck Sweatshirt – 562MR
The Jerzees Nublend Crewneck Sweatshirt is soft, comfortable and made of a lightweight Polyester / Cotton blend. At 8.0 oz this preshrunk sweatshirt has a high-density stitch which makes for a smooth printing surface.
The NuBlend also has a pill-resistant fleece interior that helps reduce tiny fabric balls from forming after washing. The main thing that stuck out right from the beginning was fitting.
The Jerzee NuBlend sweatshirt fits a bit looser and baggier in the arm and torso area, at 5’8″ and 157 lbs it seems like the NuBlend is a comfortable relaxed fit.
At a standard American length, the Jerzee NuBlend sits just below the beltline for my height. Since these blank sweatshirts are pre-shrunk you can expect the sizes you chose to stay the same after washing without shrinking.
If you like a more loose, baggy type of fit for your clothing line the Jerzees Nu Blend may be the right choice for you.
However, for something more tailored and contemporary take a look at the High-Quality Independent SS3000 might be the best option for a fitted sweatshirt.
The main thing that we didn’t like about the Jerzees Nublend 562MR is that it feels thin and lightweight. Although the Jerzees NuBlend 562MR is the most economical out of the 3 sweatshirts mentioned, the material can be a compromise for some and a benefit for others looking for a lightweight sweatshirt.
Takeaways: Good Price, Comfortable, Soft, Standard Length, Material Quality feels lightweight, Boxy Shape, Baggy Arms
3. Gildan – Heavy Blend Crewneck Sweatshirt – 18000
The Gildan Heavy Blend 18000 is an 8.0 oz – pre-shrunk 50/50 Cotton Polyester blend. The Gildan Heavyweight Sweatshirt collection offers over 15 different colors to choose from.
With a sporty fit that’s super comfortable, the shape and structure of the Gildan Heavy Blend is well made and sturdy. The 8.o oz sweatshirt seems to be thicker in material density than the Jerzee 562MR which are similar in pricing to each other.
This particular sweatshirt is perfect for a High School Sports Team or Collage type of apparel because of the quality to price ratio. Comparing the Gildan to all three sweatshirts mentioned the Gildan is most popular among our clients.
The one and only thing I don’t like about the Gildan 18000 is the short length. If the Gildan 18000 was not so short in length even though its pre-shrunk, the Gildan Heavy Blend 18000 would be my number one choice.
Feeling heavier than the Jerzees Nublend 562MR you can see where the Gildan Heavy Blend placed the extra fabric, however, the difference in weight when comparing the Jerzees and Gildan brand is less noticeable than the length of the Gildan 18000. Overall the Gildan 18000 is a comfortable, warm and thick sweatshirt with a fair price.
2. Independent Trading Co. – Crewneck Sweatshirt – SS3000
If you’re looking for a High-Quality Midweight Cotton Sweatshirts to Print on, the Independent Crewneck SS3000 is the sweatshirt that meets most of our personal and clients criteria when it comes to style, fit, quality and comfort.
The Independent Crewneck Sweatshirt SS3000 is 8.5 oz and comes in multiple material blends like 80/ 20 cotton/polyester/ 100% Cotton on 20 single face yarn which makes the material feel smooth and soft when you touch it. The Colored Heathers and Charcoals are 55/45 Cotton/ Polyester blends and the Grey Heathers are 72/25 cotton/polyester blend.
For the most part the blends and materials used for the Independent SS3000 give it a unique look and feel that is created for modern streetwear for premium clothing.
The quality of materials and the length of the Independent makes these blank sweatshirts our favorite. Comparing the Independent Crewneck SS3000 to the other three sweatshirts on length the Independent SS3000 is the longest, the quality of the material is superior as well. The Style of the Independent is more of a Skater / Surf / Streetwear brand.
The one thing about this brand is that it’s higher quality demands a higher price than the other three sweatshirts mentioned in this article. However, from experience, we found that Higher Quality Apparel lasts longer, fits better and retains the look and feel better than the less expensive brands.
1. Hanes – Ultimate Cotton Crewneck Sweatshirt – F260
This is by far the thickest and heaviest Sweatshirt out of the other three mentioned. The Hanes Ultimate Cotton Crewneck is a 9.7 oz 90/10 Cotton Polyester with a low pill, high stitch density which makes for a soft exterior and interior.
The thick cotton material makes for a great Heavy Duty Sweatshirt for a colder climate or a brand looking to provide a heavier option of sweatshirts to their customers. Construction-wise, the Hanes F260 seems and feels like the most durable sweatshirt out of all three by pulling on the fabric you get a sense of durability with this sweatshirt.
The Hanes F260 has a patented low pill fleece interior and a high stitch density on the exterior for a soft and comfortable wear on cold winter days. A spandex blend rib collar, cuffs, and waistband keep the sweatshirt from loosening up these ends.
My only complaint would be the big tag that is sewn into the collar and the boxy shape in the design and style of sweatshirt. The tag on the Hanes Crewneck is a thick satin Hanes label sewn in the back, this makes it a bit more complicated when removing the tag for those looking to fully brand their sweatshirt.
If however, you’re only branding the outer part of the sweatshirt there’s no need to worry about the tag, you can always cut it out with a pair of scissors. Personally, I prefer a sweatshirt with an easy to tear away label that prevents the collar from coming undone by ripping the tag off when its sewn in the material.
The other thing that stood out right from the start with this sweatshirt is the boxy style of fitting. I also understand that people might like the box shape style of the Hanes Crewneck if you are however looking for a relaxed, loose fit for your sweatshirt the Hanes F260 might be the right one for you.
Overall this sweatshirt is thick, sturdy and comfortable good for daily use for everyday wear and tear as well as a fashionable streetwear brand with a focus on thicker material with a relaxed 90’s feel.
